*** Here is my review from the book I told you to go out and get from my previous post: My Summer = Mystery/Thrillers
From the author of Sweet Hollow Women comes a new novel about friendship, surprises, and the secrets that hide in the shadows of even the most ordinary-seeming lives.
It’s been five years since the idyllic oceanside town of Port Elspeth was rocked by tragedy. Shortly after their high school graduation, Evangeline Maddingly, daughter of one of the town’s wealthiest old-money families, and Oliver Prescott, son of one of the town’s wealthiest new-money families, were found dead in an isolated cabin in the woods outside of town. The circumstances surrounding their untimely deaths are murky at best, thanks in large part to a coroner with connections to the town’s founding families and a sweeping effort from those in power to shut down any negative publicity that could harm the reputation of their pristine community.
Five years later, a small group of strangers gather to create jewelry for one of Port Elspeth’s many fundraisers. Before long, friendships are forming and old secrets are being revealed. Along with solving the mystery of how to make a perfect pair of chandelier earrings or cabochon necklace, these unlikely friends find themselves at the heart of solving the murders that took place half a decade earlier.
My Favourite Quotes:
** I didn’t even allow myself to stop reading in order to take any quotes down! **
There are definitely those times where you just have to trust your bookish gut. I received an email from the lovely author Holly Tierney-Bedford and was instantly drawn to the premise of this story, so much so I instantly wrote a post telling all my lovely readers to go and pick it up.
Now that I have read the book, I find that I was completely right in feeling compelled to write my previous post. I loved this book! It is in my opinion one of those perfect summer reads! It has been one of the highlights of my current reads whether for pleasure or review. It was exactly what I needed to have read.
If you are looking for a book where you want to instantly feel like you belong within an eclectic group of women and are starving for a cold case mystery to solve, this is the book for you! I loved the relationships which were formed and wished I could have answered the ad to join The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making club, so I could have found a great group of women to befriend and helped solve a crime.
I heart The Port Elspeth Jewelry Making Club this much:
