Hello! I have been really enjoying these writing prompts as of late. I hope you are enjoying them as much as I am. Thanks for continuing on this writing prompt journey with me dearest readers.
No one followed him. No one realized when he stumbled away it wasn’t from too much drink, but what had been dissolved in its amber depths.
His knees had buckled first, and when his head met stone, his jewelled crown rolled away to take cover in a far off corner.
Vision blurred on the heels of eyes whose ability to blink slowed with every laboured breath.
Was it a painful ending? Yes.
Was it meant to be such? Yes.
His hand stretched out as though to clasp something familiar, but was met with only the air which no longer pulsed through his lungs.
Before the blackness surrounded him, he could have sworn his fingers had met with those of a spectre. Not one who called him home to a land of peace, but the fiery touch of a scorned love whose death was met in very much the same way as his.
Her amber eyes glinting above the cold stone with a glittering malicious grin.
Phew! I felt as though I was holding my breath while I wrote this prompt. I have managed to creep myself out with this one.
I hope you have a great rest of your Wednesday literary lovelies!
Postscript: I’ve been trying to find a good Christmas themed prompt and can’t quite find one I like. I might have to come to terms with it not happening. Eeeeeeep.
