Kingdom Cold – Review

** Kingdom Cold will be released February 14th! **

Goodreads Synopsis:

Attempted murder, that’s how sixteen-year-old Princess Charlotte’s engagement starts. It seems like the only thing she has in common with Prince Young of Vires is their mutual discontent.

When her kingdom’s attacked, Charlotte’s parents renegotiate her hand in marriage to a handsome stranger with a sinister plan. With the people Charlotte loves dying around her, and her kingdom’s future at stake, the only person she can turn to is the prince she betrayed. But, should she save her kingdom or her heart?

One must fall.

My Favourite Quotes:

“I was eleven and my father knelt before me, for kings bow to no one but the daughters they love.”

“Marriage was the duty of every princess, and love was the cost.”

“‘Kinship is not a position that one can aspire to. You must be predestined or chosen. Do you see how they argue?’ I nodded at the boy. He continued. ‘It means they haven’t chosen me, therefore I am not fit to lead them.’ He took a seat. ‘So I’ll enjoy this fine weather until my time comes.'”

“The darkness reminded me of the fear I’d felt as a child. My mind always twisted the shadows into monsters. Now, as I trudged along, the monsters took a new form.”

“Death hid behind every tree trunk, waiting for us to drop our guard so he could claim us.”

My Thoughts:

From the very beginning of the novel, I knew this was a story unlike any I had read in quite some time and I was shocked that the ending came so quickly. I think I might have damaged my kindle screen from all the page swiping.

There were many aspects of the plot which had me reeling as to what was going to happen next and moments where all I wanted was a tiny bit of reprieve for what the characters were going through.

The characters were strong and well fleshed out and I loved that they hailed from different corners of the globe. I enjoyed the different points of view and felt like it really accentuated the events of the book and the driving forces behind the actions of the characters.

There were points of such strong realism that I felt I had to tell myself that these characters were fictional and to really guard my heart through the action-packed pages.

All in all, this was a lovely read which kept me captive from the start. If you are looking for a story you won’t want to let go of and characters you will rally behind this book is definitely for you dear readers!
