Literary Friends

With that title, you were worried I was going to go into a spiel about how books are my best friends. Admit it! You did! If not bravo.

I am in no way knocking the idea of having a book as a best friend. Books have saved my life (getting me through my depression and anxiety) in more ways than one and continue to do so BUT what I am more wanting to discuss is literary friendships.

Whenever I think of literary friendships the first ones which come to mind are:

Harry, Ron & Hermoine (You know this one 😉

Will & Jem (The Infernal Devices)

Captain Wentworth & Captain Harville (Persuasion)

I think we always yearn to be a part of these epic literary friendships but I have never wanted to be more a part of a group of characters more than the last book I read: Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen.

Just wow! I would have loved to have had a group of friends such as this when I was in high school. Oh, I am sure it would have changed me. I loved everything from their differences to their conversations to just how they were so there for one another.

I highly recommend reading Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. It was unlike anything I had read before and I followed it up with her Once And For All which actually made me cry at one point. I think I might just have found a new favourite author!

May you current read leave you lifted in spirits and provide you with the friendship you need whether it is in a cast of characters or a place you can hide away in or revel in.

Honestly Austen

Postscript: Are you ever shocked at how much you instantly like an author?
